People seem to make uneducated assumptions upon first sight
They assume that you’re a carbon copy of what they've come across before nothing more;
They don't ask who you are and what you're about;
They've already judged you without a doubt.
It's hard to impress when you've already been labeled;
Put in the same category as that guy who fleeted, mistreated, and cheated on you.
So you call me typical;
Because in your eyes you've met me before
Because in your world you fear there's nothing more
Because in your heart the pain the guy before me left endures;
But in actuality I'm his total opposite;
You've been hurt so many times you can't see;
Can't see thru the tears and the lames;
No longer able to recognize what's real from what's game;
It’s a shame I’m left to deal with the misplaced blame,
Your anger is directed at me as if he and I shared the same name;
So you call me typical
Yet just like women I've come across in the past;
I try to comfort you, and hope that the negativity that incites your emotions will one day allow someone if not me to break the barrier;
Hoping that you will give yourself a true chance at happiness, at love;
Understanding that without struggle and heartbreak you cannot persevere; Babe I'm here!
This ain't no sprint it's a marathon
And I'll walk with you arm in arm, hand in hand.
Cowards are typical, I'm a man!
